Bylaws and Elections
All Union Representatives should have a printed copy of the Chapter Bylaws. The rules and procedures governing the operations and organization of Chapter are found in our Bylaws.

Elections
General Rules
Elections must be handled in accordance with the Chapter Bylaws, the ACT National Constitution, and the Office of Labor Management Standards.
The term of office for Chapter representatives is 4 years.
Only dues-paying Union members may run for office, vote for officers, and serve on the Election Committee.
These positions are elected positions:
Union President (next election 2010)
Vice President (next election 2012)
Secretary-Treasurer (next election 2012)
Regional Vice Presidents
* Eastern VP (next election 2010)
* Western VP (next election 2010)
* Central VP (next election 2012)
These positions are appointed positions, and therefore are not included in the election:
Chief Steward
Webmaster
Editor
Union Steward(s) - one or more at each worksite
Election Committee:
An Election Committee made up of at least 2 or more volunteers must be in place prior to the election process beginning. The committee members must all be dues-paying Union members of the Chapter and must not be seeking elected office. They may be current representatives, but may not be running for re-election. They may also be serving as appointed Union representatives. The Election Committee must rent a secure Post Office box that will solely be used for the purpose of running the election. They must also obtain envelopes, stamps, paper, and access to a computer and printer to produce the nomination notice and the ballots. Receipts should be submitted to the Secretary-Treasurer for reimbursement.
The election procedures shall be followed per the Chapters ByLaws.
